One area of combat that has often played a pretty important role in the Redwall series is sieging. you have all sorts of siege tactics throughout the series.
So for this mod, I would really like to improve the siege gameplay.
Before I say too much, I want to hear what you guys think. Any ideas?

Formations would be nice, since the hares often used them... And maybe you could add some redwall defense pearls they used. (The bee hive's and the pepper spray)

Well also, while there were seiges there were many many smaller side battles: Three hares over here vs. 4 rats. 13 weasels over here vs. 8 mice. Guisom fighting on this flank against a small contingent.
Maybe... encounters? Or, while your seiging there is a chance that you'll get dragged into something? Kinda like what happens when you get waylaid in towns in Native, during the evenings?
Ex: You hit "Wait until tomorrow" and your drawn to a screen: "While leading a team to pick berries for supplies, you were waylain by a small group from the rat's keep, Defend yourself!.
It could be decided by maybe, the tactics skill how many of each side is involved? Or hell, you could even do those kinds of things yourself? Like, an option on seige menu: "Set trap for berry pickers"

Yeah, I like that idea. The ability for the defending side to attempt to sabotage the attackers in various ways. Also the ability for the attackers to try to sneak a spy or assassin in the town/castle. Things like that could really make sieges more interesting.
Also, I think food should have a bigger effect on sieges.

Yes! What would the dibbons do without candied chestnuts? All the ideas so far sound pretty cool, and will make them a lot more interesting then waiting FOREVER... And an easy way to capture a village without losing a lot of soldiers.

Food effects, agreed. Maybe a link between Moral and food types/quality/amount... with possibility to sabotage food stores, famines, something getting in and nuking your food supply, etc.
The Spies/agents sneaking into cities could be good too, perhaps the could sabotage food supplies or stocks? By stocks I mean, arrows, weapons, etc. Maybe if your lucky half the dudes in the castle will start the next fight without a weapon?

Not without a weapon... Just downgrade them a lot ( Like a guy that would normally have a sword, would be fighting with a dagger) But sounds epic!!
